An avid manga reader since his teens, Ed began his career as a manga blogger and freelance writer covering the burgeoning US manga scene in the early 00\u2019s. His writing can be found in publications such as Publishers Weekly, Comic Book Resources, WIRED Magazine, Otaku USA, and Anime News Network.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From 2006 on Ed has worn many hats within the manga localization world. Starting as a rewriter and proofreader for Seven Seas and DC Comics, he would then move on to do editorial and licensing for Vertical\/Kodansha. During his spell with Vertical, his many of his acquisitions would go on to become New York Times best-sellers \u2013 including\u00a0<em>7 Billion Needles<\/em>\u00a0(Nobuaki Tadano\/Media Factory),\u00a0<em>Chi\u2019s Sweet Home<\/em>\u00a0(Konami Kanata\/Kodansha),\u00a0<em>Gundam: THE ORIGIN<\/em>\u00a0(Yoshikazu Yasuhiko\/Kadokawa), Flowers of Evil (Shuzo Oshimi\/Kodansha);\u00a0<em>5 Centimeters per\u00a0<\/em>Second (Yukiko Seike &amp; Makoto Shinkai\/Kodansha), and\u00a0<em>A Girl on the Shore<\/em>\u00a0(Inio Asano\/Ohta Books).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As of 2017 Ed\u2019s focus has mostly been on Denpa Books. An independent manga translator and publisher, Denpa\u2019s focus within the manga industry is to introduce a range of established Japanese artists to the Western market where manga is currently dominated by shonen works, specifically from Shueisha and Kodansha. By working with nearly twenty Japanese publishers covering everything from boys love to classic shojo science-fiction and even gag comedies, Denpa\u2019s catalog stands alone as it covers what may be considered mainstream by Japanese standards, but continues to be groundsetting in
